About Emma

  • I’m Emma, the founder of Emma McCulloch Tattoo Removal in Everton Park, Brisbane. I’m a former cosmetic tattooist with 6+ years’ experience, and I have been performing tattoo removal since 2020.

My approach is conservative and plan-led. I focus on skin integrity, realistic expectations, and clear communication, so clients and artists know exactly what to expect at every stage.

  • I began my beauty career in Brisbane in 2013 as a makeup artist, then moved into brow artistry in 2015. My pathway into cosmetic tattooing began after my own brow and eyeliner experience at Valentine Artistry in Melbourne, which led me to pursue formal training and build a long-term career in the cosmetic tattoo space.

In 2020, I founded M Cosmetic Tattooing in Mackay, later merging with Blush Brows + Beauty in 2022. As client demand for corrections increased, I expanded into removal and lightening work and ultimately shifted my focus into specialist tattoo removal.

I also train practitioners across North Queensland with THink Aesthetics, supporting strong standards and safe decision-making in cosmetic tattoo and removal-related work. In 2024, my work was recognised at national awards, reflecting a commitment to education, technique and client care.

  • My core focus is cosmetic tattoo removal and lightening, including:

    • Brow tattoo removal and lightening

    • Lip tattoo removal and lightening

    • Eyeliner tattoo removal

    • Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) removal

I also provide body tattoo removal and controlled fading for cover-ups, including multicolour tattoos, with tailored wavelength selection based on the ink colours present.

  • I offer multiple removal pathways and select the safest option based on pigment behaviour, placement, skin type and end goal.

Depending on the case, treatment may involve:

    • Laser tattoo removal

    • Saline tattoo removal

    • Glycolic tattoo removal

    • Emergency removal (time-sensitive cases)

For laser work, I use a multi-wavelength system (Quanta Q Plus C) to support multicolour planning. Suitability and response vary, and treatment plans are tailored accordingly.

  • Tattoo removal is not one-size-fits-all. I prioritise:

    • Conservative planning

    • Skin integrity and clean healing

    • Clear expectations on timelines and session spacing

    • Honest guidance on whether full removal or controlled lightening is the best option

Some sessions show immediate change, and some changes occur gradually over the following weeks. Either way, the plan is built around steady progress and appropriate review intervals.

  • I work closely with PMU artists when a client needs pigment reduction prior to re-tattooing, correction, or a style change.

With the client’s consent, I send a brief email update after each session to the artist, including:

    • Clinical photos

    • What was performed and the observed response

    • Recommended next steps and review timing

This keeps the process collaborative and helps avoid over-treatment.

If you are a PMU artist, you can refer brow clients via the Brow Plan link.
